“Be a Junior Captain!” is the motto at the Marine Kids Village, where the agenda is aimed at sparking a child’s interest in both the ocean and watercraft. Set to be held on March 9 and 10 at the Pacifico Yokohama venue, the scheduled programs and their times are listed below.

A Challenge from the King of the Pirates - Where is Captain Vanessa?
This event has participants try to solve several riddles to eventually arrive at the finish. After starting at the reception area, participants have to figure out the answer to the first quiz to move on to the next point, and so on. Making it to the end grants an audience with Captain Vanessa herself! Finishers will receive a card certifying their achievement as full–fledged pirates.

*Run from 10:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00 on both days.

*Participation is free but limited to children of junior high school level and under and their guardians.

Discovering How Boats Work
Participants can learn the answers to questions like, “Why do boats float?” “What is the resistance of water?” and so on through experiments with everyday objects. One way they will do that is to construct a model boat and race it.
Build a Propeller-powered Boat
Build a model boat that uses a rubber band to turn the propeller and propel it forward, then see how it actually works on the water. This illustrates how boats move in the water in a fun, interactive way.
Ocean Posters
Try your hand at creating an advertising poster for the sea that will make everyone smile. The idea is to find just the right kind of ad to attract as many people as possible to visit your favorite spot on the water. Funny ideas and expressions that bring laughs are welcome, of course!
Kids Boat Quiz
The oceans connect the whole world together and boats traveling the seas also connect different people with different cultures. From small dinghies to huge freighters, boats of all shapes and sizes can be found on the water. The Kids Boat Quiz is a chance to learn about the rich history and culture of boating while having fun at the same time.

A look at safety with small boats and how they can be enjoyed

There is a great deal of potential to be found in these compact craft as well as unique ways to operate them safely. These points will be illustrated through lectures and the like so that guests can understand how fun they can be.
